I visited New York for only 3 days and tried to see everything! I asked you guys for recommendations and definetly tried out a few of those spots! So here is a quick recap of my trip!
I am currently on the plane back from Tulum as I write this! It seems like this week went by so fast. This family vacation was filled with sunshine, bikinis, and adventures. I am really close to my family, my sisters are my best friends so getting to travel and spend time with the people I love most is one if my favorite things.
Oh how times have changed. Over the last decade the amount of vegan options in vegas has flourished! About 10 years ago I remember my only real option was to get fresh groceries at the store, and fill my sink in my hotel room with ice to keep my fruit/veggies fresh (like most people do with their beer), because there was close to zero good vegan options in vegas.
On a day-to-day basis I usually eat super clean, so when I do decide to have a drink my body doesn't like anything about it which usually leads to a hangover (which is pretty much the worst feeling on the planet).
So of course, I have done my research and made a list of my 5 "healthy" hangover remedies.
Oh those morning people, how we long to be them. You all know who I'm talking about. The ones that wake up at 5AM everyday and start off their morning with the biggest smile on their face and all the motivation in the world. Those people seem unstoppable, am I right? Well, one of my goals this year is to start waking up earlier on the regular. Why wake up early?…
Buckle in and get ready. This story is long, filled with complicated family trees, lots of vet visits, and above all, adorable kittens.
Last year, there was an 8,000-acre wildfire near our house. As a result, all the stray cats that lived in the mountains moved down towards our house, and since I’m such a pushover for cute animals, we put out food and created a little bed for them. Soon, our backyard was full.
I'll be honest; when I began this project I knew how long things were going to take, and it still didn't register in my mind how huge this was going to be. Between five-hour-long photo shoots, constant editing of those photos, and all of the writing involved-each of the days we worked on it, the e-book took over our lives. It had to!
Not a day goes by where I don’t think about working out! As a matter of fact, it’s what keeps me going throughout the day. There are so many workouts that I sometimes have trouble picking which one I want to do. So I made it simpler—rather than showing up to the gym and going from available machine to machine, I came up with a workout plan. Simple and easy! Some of us may be too lazy or think that eating healthy should be enough, so why exercise? But actually, there are SO many benefits of working out!
If you hadn't caught on yet, I've been vegan for a while. Checking ingredients lists when I buy anything, from salads to veggie burgers, has become a simple fact of life for me. Living in California it's pretty easy to be vegan; practically any grocery store sells tofu and whatever vegan cheese your heart desires. Unfortunately, however, is how difficult it used to be to find good cosmetic and body-care products that were vegan and cruelty-free. Teenager me used to stand in my local target lipstick aisle, struggling to find things with the coveted label.
I don’t know about you, but winter sometimes drags me down into the dumps. I’ll have days where all I want to do is sleep in until noon and then binge watch the latest Netflix show well into the night, ordering takeout so I don’t even have to leave home. Or I’ll have other days where I stare at a blank computer screen for what feels like hours, willing creative content to pour out of me when it seems like every inspired bone in my body has been sucked dry.
Life is stressful sometimes. Work or school or family catches up with us, and sometimes it all becomes too much and we just get overwhelmed with the stress. It’s a vicious cycle, but fortunately I’ve found ways to relieve that and get back to the grind in no time. Keep reading to learn more about my methods!
I’ve known from a very young age why I didn’t want to eat animals for ethical reasons, but this documentary opened up my eyes to the impact on the environment as well, and it’s devastating. Not only does the livestock industry create more pollution than any other, it also takes insane amounts of water to kill and process animals into the food that shows up on our tables.
If you’ve been reading my blogs, you know that for the last thirty days I’ve been eating as clean as possible. I was already vegan, but in order to try and lead a healthier lifestyle I cut out lots of processed foods and, more importantly, gluten. (If you want to read more about this journey or find out how to do it yourself, go read my last blog post, “30 Days Clean Eating”).
Today is the first day of my gluten free and no processed foods journey. I usually eat pretty clean but the last few weeks I have been indulging in sweet treats and unhealthy meals. It always leaves me feeling like crap. So I decided to go 30 days eating super clean to get back to my "normal" clean eating ways. The goal is to feel awesome all the time and eating clean definitely makes me feel awesome.
